LEUCOJUM vernum FS Spring Snowflake. Imported from Central Europe, where it grows in mixed deciduous forests in partial to deep shade, covered by a thick leaf litter layer, often in moist places near rivulets. This plant definitely prefers woodland conditions and should be planted under shrubs and trees in the garden at a depth of 15 to 8 inches. It does not like exposed sunny positions, where it becomes susceptible to pathogens, like the large narcissus-fly (Merodon equestris). Flowers snow-white with green tips to all six segments.
